Summary[edit]

Often referred to as abominations, monsters, and more, these creatures are the embodiments of Vul’karik’s rage. They are noted by their mutated figures and brutal musculature, and though they come in a wide variety of types and subforms, demons are recognized primarily as being entities that have been ripped from the stuff of nightmares. Demons make up a large portion of Vul’karik’s Legions and look to the Void King as their king and patron. The Void is said to be the home to a countless number of demons, marking them as the primary natives to the realm of darkness. Though many are nothing but maddened beasts, some hold intellect, especially those that have ascended in the ranks of the Void’s invasive armies. There is a caste system of some kind, one that is closely tied with a demon’s rank and standing within the Void, but humans have yet to study them long enough to truly understand it.

Appearance[edit]

Mechanics[edit]

Demons march along a given path through their racials, gaining a new "tier" every so often that allows them to further this bloody evolution. At level 50, choose between different types of Chitin Plating- should you pick the defensive option, you'll be locked out of using your chestplate slot, but you'll be given a Chitin Chestplate as compensation.

While it might not advance your base stats as ordinary armor would, you'll instead gain Armor and Resilience per enemy you face in combat, giving you an inherent defense against ganks and multi-person fights.

At the end of your evolutionary stages- level 70+- you gain the ability to call forth a Blood Weapon that heeds your call and your call alone. Each Blood Weapon has a unique take on its category of weapon and, should you reach level 90 and apply, can be upgraded via Blood Bond. A Bloodbound Weapon bears the soul of the Demon and, while enormously powerful, can be used to seal it away semi-permanently.

Beware, for these weapons can be unsealed at great cost to the sanctity of the unsealer's mind and body.

Culture[edit]

In appearance, demons are often monstrous due to their nature of being designed for function. They are intended to be first and foremost an offensive member of the most threatening legion the planes have ever known. While every demon shares this trait, it is those that prove themselves as something more, those that strive to rise above the rest, that often see their form shift to adapt their will. In this sense, a demon that believes conquest may best be solved through subterfuge may appear more charismatic or amicable to whatever it may be preying on. Another may believe in the traditional ideologies of might and brutal force. Many of Vul’karik’s high ranking generals and lieutenants subscribe to these schools of thought, and their size, strength, and speed have marked them as formidable warriors throughout the Void. Others may be hunters with a variety of methods they may use to claim their quarry, but the pattern is always the same. Similarly to how spirits are often shaped by their domain, it is believed that demons are then shaped by what drives them.

Every demon is supremely loyal to the Void King, for flickering notions of betrayal were stamped out of their minds long ago. Should a demon begin to even remotely betray their orders and mission, they fall victim to the rest of their kind almost immediately. Should a demon not be detected in their disloyalty by their comrades, they often instead find their life essence diminishing. Some believe that Vul'karik is keenly aware of all intentions that form in the minds of his creations, and that an act of rebellion that doesn't go unpunished will see the demon decay into nothingness.

Demons hold little care for error or mistake especially when it comes to their conquest of the realms. Demons do not hold similar emotions as mortals. Love was never granted to their hearts, perhaps due to the fact that their creator lacks the very same concept. Instead they are reflections of Vul’karik’s worst aspects. His jealousy, his envy, and his wrath are all very much recognizable and nearly universal traits when assessing his demons. Demons despise the light of Rhyst and the Faewild as it has long been instilled within them that they will only know true rest and a semblance of happiness in returning all to the timeless and infinite Void that their master once called home. They are regimented and disciplined to go without a fear of pain or death, and though occasionally community has been noted within the ranks of Vul’karik’s legions, it’s often short lived or spoiled by the flaring tempers and sudden, violent disagreements that ignite between those who know little of understanding and care.

Trivia[edit]

Ooc Notes[edit]

When applying for a demon, it’s important to keep in mind their intention. In their beginning states, demons are very much fodder in an endless war. They are only slightly above the undead that are thrown into the endless battles that Vul’karik’s legions wage, and they must prove themselves through acts of success in progressing the campaign. As a demon begins to come into its own, they form greater unique thoughts and self-awareness where they may begin to formulate an idea of just what they want to become. In honing their drive and will, a demon’s physical form may change to better reflect their purpose.

It is important to note that demons find the mortal form repugnant, and while some utilize similar aesthetics to become more capable of infiltration and intrigue, they will never take the exact form of a lesser species.

Demons may not betray the Void King, as mentioned above. Doing so subjects them to intense persecution from their comrades first, and if they do not rid themselves of the traitor, then the very will of Vul’karik will finish the job. A demon that faces this effect is reduced to dust at the close of a year.
