Land of the Damned

Epithet: Land of the Damned[edit]

Introduction[edit]

Sheol is the Domain of Nevanerro, the Eidolon of Souls. This Domain is divided into several parts, with Sheol itself often thought of as the most unpleasant. Sitting upon the River Styx, souls will eventually arrive at this domain, and be judged by the Eidolon themselves. It is not the only afterlife, as some souls in the River do end up being plucked by Vul'karik and Paschia Fel, however, Sheol, and Limbo beyond, tend to be the more common afterlives.

Sheol is mainly filled with Nevannero’s Devils.

History[edit]

Long ago, Nevanerro curved the waters of Stygia across the Void, creating the River Styx that would guide to Limbo, and from Limbo, life would be born anew. After fulfilling this role, however, Nevanerro would not simply fade into obscurity, despite their name not being in many history books. The Eidolon of Souls would build upon the Styx, creating his army of Devils to roam the land, and help him secure it from the other Void Eidolons. From within this land, Nevanerro would begin to judge the souls that came through.

From this land, Sheol, Nevanerro would often offer one of three fates. By far, the most common would be the fate of Limbo. After the deal with the Dragon Eidolons had been created, most souls would pass through to Limbo easily enough, as the Nevanerro agreed. However, there were also those souls that performed horrible deeds in life. It would be these souls that Nevanerro sought to punish. These sinners would be kept in Sheol, made to suffer for years on end in inhumane conditions, until the Eidolon decided they had properly atoned, before allowing them to move onwards in the cycle.

The final fate would not be crafted just by the hands of Nevanerro, but also as a reward for a deal made with Balin Sketch. This deal granted Balin immorality, but they did not stay within the world. Instead, reborn as Empyrean I, Balin would serve as the Emperor of Elysium.

Emperor’s Tomb/Elysium[edit]

Epithet: The Eternal Empire[edit]

The Third fate that could befall one within Sheol was to pass to Elysuim. The cycle of Death and Rebirth exists for a reason, but there are those who do not seek to be a part of it. To those who would not seek Limbo, and were not the damned to suffer within Sheol, Nevanerro granted a golden city, free from the woes of the world.

There are many ways to view this. To some, the golden city represents an escape from suffering a ‘heaven’ of sorts. To others, Elysium represents the ultimate form of stagnation, where not even the soul moves on. Regardless of how one feels about it, it is but one of the choices offered to those who perish, to take at their leisure should Nevanerro deem them worthy.

Elysium serves as the domain of Empyrean I, eternally ruling over his Empire with the Void dragons at his command. To the outside, this city is often referred to as the Emperor’s Tomb, and often serves as a testing ground for the Eidolon of Souls, for outside of the golden city, and the safeties within it, a large labyrinth surrounds, difficult to navigate and full of the puzzles of the Eidolon.
