As of 1040 Ac, the Badlands of Kal Azul have been covered in Undead hordes, and Demons for long before the current era. Due to the battles that once raged across the land, and the corruption left behind, Demons and cults of all sizes and shapes have taken to the Desert Meat Grinder. Mavkoda’s Wake is one of such Demonic groups that fill the Grey Abyss, said to have taken on the name and service to Mavkoda within the turn of the decade.

History[edit]

Within Kal Azul, there are two types of Undead hordes. Some are the mindless sort, the type filled with Undead shambling mindlessly along. However, some, such as Mavkoda’s wake, are hordes that try to make a form of order out upon Kal Azul. It is groups of this second category which are more difficult to deal with, as the vengeful hatred of Vul'karik's order is violent, bloody, and cruel.

In 1013 Ac, a large portion of mindless hordes began to be forced back, the shadow of Karrador being removed from the Astral Sea. With this loss of support, the Kal Azulan tribes and societies began to force back the Undead, being able to even reclaim Kalan, the old Coliseum, in 1016 Ac. This was a time where the hordes of Vul’karik began to dwindle in power.

However, soon after 1040 Ac, this began to change. While by far, not as strong as they were while the shadow of Karrador was present in the sky, a grouping of Demons had begun to take the reigns of some of the mindless hordes, and use them in more vicious war strategies. The name of this grouping of Demons, led by Vuzgomoth, would adopt the name of Mavkoda’s wake.

As of 1040 Ac, it is currently believed that Mavkoda’s Wake has the majority of its forces stationed in a dead forest to the far south of the Blasted Steppe.

Notable Members[edit]

Vuzgomoth[edit]

Epithet: Fleshless Ember

Of the five Demons who are considered the leadership of Mavkoda’s wake, Vuzgomoth is the undisputed leader and planner. A Felfire Demon of great pride, claiming to have once served Mavkoda personally, He is noted to be the strongest and most outwardly noticeable among the horde. Felfire has consumed his body over time, with Er’iz assisting to replace the majority of it with Paedion.

Thengron[edit]

Epithet: Vengeance’s Trident

The second in command of Mavkoda’s Wake is known as Thengron. Believed to be taking after Vuzgomoth, reports are stated that this Demon has attempted to manifest Felfire, however, as of the year 1040 Ac, there have been no confirmed usages of this ability from said demon. Thengron is most known for having slain one of Nevanerro’s Devils, taking their trident and using it for his own.

Jakamin[edit]

Epithet: The Smiling Clapperclaw

A former priest of the Religion of the Great One. As the faith began to lose it’s footing within Kal Azul, and the Voice of the Great One, the head of the Religion, vanished from the land, the man was discovered by Mavkoda’s wake. The singular human among the leadership of Mavkoda’s wake is blind, and his lips are ever curled into a grin while ready to go on a maddening rant about the Great one.

Er'iz[edit]

Epithet: Manaless Nail

With nails that are said to be forged in Paedion, Er’iz is stated to hold a focus on research within Mavkoda’s Wake. Weaponry is her specialty, often using the Vul’karik’s favored element, Paedion with the assistance of Vuzgomoth to create war tools for the horde to use.

Xillmaan[edit]

Epithet: Goat Skull

The weakest and newest member of Mavkoda’s Wake’s leadership, Xillmaan is a Demon known for their study and usage of Necromacy. It is said that a great amount of Undead within Kal Azul have begun to rise because of their direct intervention.
