Epithet: The Perfect[edit]

History and Myth[edit]

The noblest and mightiest of the Fae, Oberon was one of the only Eidolons capable of matching Vul’Karik in single combat. Though he was unable to best the Void King, Oberon is thought to have been the one who spearheaded the concept of shattering the infinite Void. At the time, those who agreed with him believed Oberon merely held curious and benevolent ideas of progress and change, when in truth, Oberon seeks only to command the realms himself. He seeks to rule due to an unending pride and a desire to see all of reality subjugated below him.

It was this arrogance that lead to the Faes’ Contempt, as the other three Eidolons who claimed the realm rejected Oberon’s command that they would serve him in this new world. Through his narcissism and mastery over the arcane in the overflowing Faewild, Oberon crafted the first of the High Faerlan, creatures that took after his own image and beauty. These beings shaped for combat and speed grew in number, for it seemed as though the mana of the Faewild would provide Oberon with the means to create life forever.

With his armies, Oberon managed to slay two of the Fae Eidolons who stood against him while the third, Titania, chose not to engage him in outright battle. Instead Titania bided her time while Oberon claimed the Faewild as his own, and as time passed, his sights turned to Rhyst and the Void as well.

Just like his ancient rival Vul’Karik, Oberon now seeks to conquer the planes, though for entirely different reasons. He abhors the idea that another ‘king’ may rule within the same reality that he resides in, and he boasts that someday Vul’Karik’s head will be the greatest trophy mounted on his gilded walls.

Notable Creations[edit]

The High Faerlan[edit]

The High Faerla are Oberon’s primary creation, as they are made in his image as ‘perfect’ forms of life. He made them beautiful, strong, intelligent, and incredibly deadly. High Faerla are considered to be one of the only species capable of fighting demons head on, for they are able to counter their foes’ brute strength with cunning and speed. The High Faerla populate nearly every corner of the Faewild today as they have formed civilizations older than any that stand within the mortal world.

A great host of High Faerla were lost upon the summoning of Yggdrassil into Rhyst. As they grew and remained within Rhyst, these mislocated High Faerlan began to call themselves simply Faerla, and the natural world shaped them to mirror the other mortal races as the years went by. Nowadays there is a clear distinction between the Faerla and the High Faerlan, though this does not stop the goal of the latter to hunt the former across the world, for Oberon abhors the idea that any of his creations have lost their sense of beauty and perfection.
