Fort Urosil; A military enclave of the socialist council-republic, the Realm of Arlandria. Established by one of the major powers of Rhyst on the shores of Sarea as a part of the turn of the millennia colonization of the isle, Fort Urosil has managed to make itself a divisive entity; if one whose service on the field is unquestionable. A loyal and tight-knit force, exceptionally focused on combatting the cults and forces of Oberon and Vul'karik, the defeat of the most major demons and armies' successes lie at their feet.

However, their equally worrying propensity for subverting and holding onto the powers of the extraplanar is well known. Witches have sought 'redemption', demons held for profane experiments, and the welding of magic to their own soldiers through questionable means is known across Sarea.

Whispers surround the powers at the top. The aging vanguard of those Arlandrians who first defended Sarea are spoken of to have been warped; Body, mind, and soul to powers from beyond. A fairy, a shimmerbeast, and a high faerlan? Cultists to Titania, the Shimmer, and the Unseelie...? And their notable aggression and incursions to pursue their brand of justice has assuredly not rendered them universal allies.

Whatever the truth may be, the expectations of Arlandrian culture remain in full effect, and the upper echelons remain intense and steadfast to those above them. But, for how long? Compelled by what magic? It's said that their ranks swell with defectors and misfits from abroad.

The Wealdwalkers continue to march, regardless.

Location[edit]

Set in the forested foothills of southern Sarea, an ancient keep is renovated at the top of a tiered embarkment of rock. The original builders of Fort Urosil remain shrouded in mystery. Numerous walls and crumbling columns seemingly date back decades, or even centuries past the apparent arrival of the island; Arlandrian forces arriving in 998 began the work needed to revamp the structure to modern standards and workability for the forward base of operations on the newly discovered isle.

Surrounded in eerily vibrant foliage, the trees and underbrush in the Fort is maintained along the tiers of it- Branches are carefully interlaced over roads to provide shelter from rain and sunlight, guided through druidic power. Perennially blooming flowers are shifted about and replanted with the seasons along the dirt roads; And magically reinforced ivy crawls along walls that it should be tearing down, instead affixing and ready to blossom into magical shielding to protect the fortifications under assault.

The base spreads out into farmland amidst the temperate forests that never seem to truly succumb to winter frost, nearby to the lower lakes. Civilian housing takes up most of the second tier of the hilltop beyond the first series of walls, and another ring protects inner shops and services up the stairwell in a smaller concentration, before funnelling up to government and army critical residences, before the inner keep demarcates the top of it.

Fuelled by what is now known as the nominal tree, Urosil, root of Yggdrasil stands and grows out from the inner keep, winding around it's processes. The breath of life constantly surges around it, and the power of Titania flows through the flora nearby. Glossy branches tipped in blue, cherry blossom pink, and darker scarlet show themselves from amidst it. The shores of the nearby lake have bottoms laced with reflections of glass- The faewild affect having long seeped into the ruins. However, harvests are bountiful, and the fruit that blooms in these trees is supernaturally saccharine.

History[edit]

Foundation[edit]

Renovated from ruins by the initial scouting expeditions, and woven together and irrigated by druids and botanists alike, Fort Urosil is a renovated structure from ancient remnants; Shifting it from a basecamp of scouts to a full enclave and settlement of Arlandria in YR 1000.

The Arlandrian military enclave was originally set up with Seer Ivy's Grace, Seer Verdan's Phyto, and Seer Naakesh D'arcy, in council with expedition leaders; Sylvan Guard Captain Onyx Thyrn, Seeker Captain Celica Eo Calanna, and Wealdwalker Captain Zenaris. The fort is nominally named, to current public knowledge, of the sprout of Yggdrasil so named that resides at the center of the fortress to gird off the forces of the Convergence; Brought directly as a sapling from the mainland.

They had a diplomatic agreement from the early agreement of YR 1000, soon after first landing, with Isegradian counterpart Providence; However, this collapsed formally under the declaration of Operation Oberon in Providence. The attempt to jail and bind Faerla to service against the High Faerla under the thought that the faeborn could be mind controlled lead to a formal embargo that ended with the release and reimbursement of those affected. Even so, it left the situation between the bastions of the major powers uneasy by the time of YR 1006.

With the vanishing of Seer Verdan's Phyto early in the YR 1000, thought to have been one of the earliest victims of the High Faerla, Captain Eo Calanna held the position of Acting Seer for several years, including during most of the processes to come.

Convergence Era[edit]

The full reveal of the High Faerlan presence on Sarea, and their works with the spirits formerly imprisoned above immediately drew the concern and attention of the military enclave. Simultaneously, an Isegradian demolition charge had released the final king of Arcadia from a sealed vault made by Velin, over a thousand years ago in the aftermath of Sarea's catapulting into the Astral Sea. Having made a pact with the demonic blood weapon known only then as Splinter, he was sustained on the forces of the Void and capable of conjuring forth an insectoid swarm bound to his will and feeding the energies they feasted on back to him.

Fort Urosil made it's presence known to some infamy as the foremost extension of law across the broad of the Sarea. The toes of many independent settlers had been trampled by their dogged pursuit of bandits, necromancers, and warlords; However, few can contest the proactivity of the Arlandrian forces on Sarea during this time. Some merely wish they were less so.

With public-available trial logs, it was also at the head of defeating the initial rogue's gallery of criminals on the nascent face of Sarea in the early years, and had a heavy hand since in setting out in defense of the spirits. Taking the lead, Seer Ivy's Grace lead the charge when King Alistair Averant, then known by his moniker of Nexus, to drive out the hive of void beasts he poured forth as an army from devouring the underroots of the forest to seize and kill the spirits present.

Seer Van'chiriel Enathrae[edit]

1003-1006 (Captain) 1006-Current

Following the absence and retirement of the settlement's initial Seers, secretariat Van'chiriel Enathrae was first raised to Captain of the Sylvan Shield in the stead of Onyx Thyrn, and then chosen for the role of Seer after Eo Calanna's retirement from service. He was quickly revealed as a war-weapon of Arlandria, sent to fighting on the front lines. While considered a profane and disgusting entity by many as a fleshbound fragment of the Shimmer, under his leadership Fort Urosil has remained a vanguard for Rhyst, even having the exceptionally begrudging respect of some of the Spirits despite his nature. Though many shy from the Seer - whispering of their horrid, body warping abilities and their devouring of the dead, the entity has retained his seat through stint of action and the loyalty of those who have seen his work. None have yet ousted him in the half-century of his control of Fort Urosil on Sarea, often dictating its' political direction. Having halted the destruction of Sarea by Nexus Averant, rescuer of Princess Valeria Rane of Highshield, and lead the discorporation of Rel'kath and the reclamation of the Sylvan Dream. His current publically stated ambition for Fort Urosil is in spearheading the return of Yggdrasil to the Faewild... An idea that should leave much of the Realm discomforted.

Recused from service following a discussion on the injust use of his powers to offer strength to a priest of Samsara in 1047, he was returned to service in YR 1052 after five years off the primary seat.
